Managing Stranded Product at Customers’ Sites
WTS recovers manufacturers’ unused, expired, or damaged product from customer locations as remote as Hawaii, Guam, and Calgary, safely and compliantly, with no added burden on the customer site.
Client: Chemical manufacturer (product stewardship)
Focus: Product stewardship · Remote logistics · Compliance
CHALLENGE
Manufacturers increasingly need to manage their own product, unused, excess, expired, or damaged, sitting at customer locations. Volumes are often small but still require safe, compliant handling, sometimes in hard-to-reach places.
APPROACH
WTS built a customer-specific portal capturing each material’s location, volume, packaging, description, and SDS. WTS chemists and logistics staff first check for alternate uses. If disposal is required, WTS manages characterization, temporary IDs, packaging, labeling, profiles, manifests, and transport through its provider network.
RESULT
Damaged and expired product recovered from locations as remote as Hawaii, Guam, and Calgary (1–4 pallets each), shipped by vessel to the mainland where needed, completed safely and compliantly, with no added cost or travel burden on the customer sites.
WHY IT MATTERS
Extending a manufacturer’s environmental standards to its customers’ doorsteps protects both the brand and the customer relationship, even when volumes are small and locations are difficult.
